EPHEMERAL FLOWER EARRINGS FOR VERDE PRATO

"Site-specific jewelry for live performance"

Ephemeral Flower Earrings is a site-specific jewelry project created for a live concert by Verde Prato (Ana Arsuaga) in Barcelona, 2025.

The earrings were conceived not as permanent objects, but as temporary pieces designed to exist only for the duration of the performance. Like live music, their value lies in presence, immediacy, and shared experienced rather than longevity.

  • Concept

This project explores jewelry as an action rather than an artifact.

Made from real flowers combined with minimal metal elements, the pieces establish a dialogue between the organic and the structural, the fragile and the traditionally enduring nature of jewelry.

By embracing ephemerality, the work questions permanence, authorship, and value, proposing jewelry as something that happens — and then disappears.

  • Materials & Process

    • Fresh flowers
    • Silver
    • Copper
    • Hand-assembled
    • Time-based transformation as part of the process

The natural degradation of the flowers is not concealed but intentionally incorporated, allowing time to become an active material within the piece.

  • Body, Performance & Temporality

Activated only when worn, the earrings respond to movement, light, and sound during the performance.

As the concert unfolds, the jewelry transforms alongside the body and the music. Once the performance ends, the piece ceases to exist as an object, remaining only through memory and visual documentation.
