925 Recycled Sterling Silver: silver is an excellent material for kitchen utensils and cutlery. However, there are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Material Purity: 925 silver means it is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of another metal, usually copper. This adds durability without removing silver’s beneficial properties. Pure silver is naturally antimicrobial, and although 925 silver isn’t as pure, it still has the beneficial properties for kitchen use.
2. Reactivity with Foods: Silver can react with certain foods, especially acidic ones like citrus, vinegar, and very salty foods. This reaction can cause the spoon to tarnish, although it’s not harmful.

You can safely use 925 silver spoons in the kitchen. Just be cautious with acidic ingredients, and follow proper maintenance to keep them in good condition and prevent tarnishing or losing their shine.

Varnished Brass Spoons: designed to accompany you in your self-care rituals or to be a decorative object in your home.

Brass spoons are varnished in order to protect them and prevent reactions with certain ingredients (especially those with a highly acidic or alkaline pH - such as lemon juice or vinegar). They can be used to apply self-care/skincare products.

1. Antimicrobial Properties: Due to its copper content, brass has some antimicrobial properties, which can help reduce bacterial growth on the utensil.
2. Reactivity: The varnish acts as a barrier between the brass and skincare ingredients, preventing chemical reactions.
3. Oxidation and Maintenance: Brass spoons may oxidize and change color over time, especially when exposed to acidic substances. This isn’t typically harmful but is something to consider if you want to keep the spoons in good condition. The varnish creates a protective layer that shields the brass from air and moisture, preventing it from oxidizing or tarnishing over time.
4. Durability and Aesthetic Appeal: Varnishing gives brass a lasting shine and protects its appearance, keeping the spoons looking attractive and well-maintained.

Silver tends to tarnish, especially if exposed to sulfur compounds (like those in some foods). To keep silver spoons in good condition, it’s recommended to clean them regularly with specific silver cleaners or with homemade methods, such as rubbing them with a mixture of baking soda and water.

Avoiding the Dishwasher: To prolong the lifespan of silver spoons, it’s better to wash them by hand with mild detergent. Dishwashers are often too abrasive for silver and can damage its surface over time.

Brass: Although varnish protects the brass from oxidation, it can also be more delicate than the metal itself. It’s best to wash varnished spoons by hand with warm water and mild detergent to avoid damaging the varnish layer. Avoid using abrasive sponges or products that could scrape off the varnish. *With continuous use and washing, the varnish may wear down over time, especially on areas with frequent contact. This could leave the brass exposed again, so occasional re-varnishing may be necessary.
